It was another strong reading period at After Happy Hour, and we’re excited to share our next issue with yinz! All work has been accepted for Issue 14. Its tentative release date is May 18. We’ll share more deets about the lanuch as the date gets closer.
If you’re still waiting to hear back about a submission, don’t worry! We’re still considering your work for Issue 15 in the fall, and we plan to respond to all current open submissions before Issue 14 drops, so you shouldn’t be waiting much longer.
We’re also thrilled to announce we exceeded our goal for matching donations to Bukit Bail Fund! All-told, After Happy Hour contributors and editors donated $2,200 over the past 2 reading periods. Thank you to everyone who chipped in to help make that possible!
We’ll be continuing with feedback for donations in the fall reading period that opens 4/1, but we’re switching up the donation source to Word Without Walls, an organization that runs writing classes for inmates of Allegheny County Jail and the State Correctional Institute of Pittsburgh, along with workshops where former inmates and community members alike can share and improve their writing. We’ll have more details to share in the coming weeks on how to donate and get feedback for it.
