For the last couple of weeks, the After Happy Hour editors have been individually participating in protests and supporting groups fighting against racism and police brutality. We’ve been discussing ways we can use the journal as a platform to do more. Even though we’re a small journal and don’t have a huge audience, we also know every little bit helps.
One of the organizations doing great work in our hometown of Pittsburgh is Bukit Bail Fund, a group that provides bail assistance to inmates at the Allegheny County Jail. Local folks especially, I encourage you to check them out and donate if you have the means.
As an added incentive to donate, the editors are doing two things:
- Matching all donations up to a total of $500
- Offering writers who donate to Bukit Bail Fund the option to receive editorial feedback on their submission.
You’ll find instructions on how to upload a receipt of your donation on our page on Submittable, if you want to take part.
We’re putting together a list of other organizations to support in the future, and we’d love to hear suggestions from our submitters and readers. You can leave them in the comments here or e-mail us at afterhappyhour [at] gmail [dot] com.
